The Legal Candle Not-for-Profit Law

Running a Not-for-Profit Organization (NPO) in Uganda can be challenging especially when it comes to meeting different legal obligations. Uganda has one of the most complex legal regimes for Not-for-Profit Organizations in the world. Through our Legal Candle Program we provide low-cost legal services for a wide range of NPOs in Uganda from start-ups to established organizations on a wide range of legal requirements.

Whether it is a faith organization (church, mosque or others), a hospital, school, ordinary NGO, trust, Club, Community Based Organization (CBO) or any form of not-for-profit entity, our team of experienced lawyers are always available for help. 

Our lawyers not only have knowledge of not-for-profit law and its obligations in Uganda but also have vast experience in running different not-for-profit entities as directors and secretaries of different entities. 

Not only do we provide legal advice, we also carry out legal research and advocacy for issues relating with laws and law enforcement in Uganda with a focus on not-for-profit law. We carry out research and advocacy as well as support litigation in courts of law for cases with an impact of civic space mainly association rights. We engage different government agencies on issues of law reform, capacity building and policy reform.
